White Oak Flakey
White Oak is typically a light tan-brown straw colour to a creamy beige wheat flour. The flake or fleck is produced when the medullary ray is sliced while the log is in quarter cut. Heavy flake quarter cut is often considered a high or premium grade veneer and allows for very little defects, such as pin knots or mineral streaks.
Easy to work with, strong dense and decay resistant, it can be stained and accepts finishes well. In Flakey White Oak this heightens the visibility of the flakes and makes it appear lighter relative to the rest of the grain.
